Dhauti Kriya

Dhauti is the process of gradually swallowing a muslin cloth (7 meters x 8 cm) soaked in salt water, and then of taking it out slowly. This bandage- shaped cloth must be washed thoroughly with hot water before the use. To begin with, keep the bandage in a cup full of dilute saline solution. Take one end of the bandage, and put it in your mouth. Then chew it slowly like animals and insert it in your stomach. Be careful to do this gradually on the first day. Swallow only one meter cloth and then go, on increasing the length.

After inserting the cloth in your stomach, pull it out by a slow process. If there is any obstruction, chew a little more and then bring it out. However, if there is a difficulty in swallowing the cloth in the beginning, soak the cloth in water mixed with milk or honey. If the pull out process is obstructed due to some reasons, drink salted water and vomit, and then take the cloth out. After use, the dhauti cloth should be washed with soap so that impurities sticking on it are removed.

By this process, the phlegm of the stomach comes out. Diseases like cough, asthma, headache, fever, leprosy as well as the diseases of breathing and liver are cured by this kriya. It gives perfect health to a person and makes him strong. It increases appetite and removes gas and other stomach troubles.
