Courage

Courage thinks only of the destination and nothing in between. It is the force of a decided will behind every move and so failure is far from it. Courage is when you cannot necessarily see, but in your heart you know and that knowing becomes a light to see by, so you do not stop. Courage grows with life, but it is also the quality of a child who knows no challenge and of an adult who is ignorant of the challenge’s power.

Courage is to take a step forward into an area of difficulty without a solution in mind, but yet feeling that victory is ahead. It is going empty handed, but knowing that God’s hand is stretched out to pull you.

Courage is saying what you believe, undiluted, desiring no approval, knowing that a deeply thought out ideal is strong enough to withstand opposition. And if it is knocked down, then courage knows not to blame, but to re-build stronger.

Courage doesn’t come unbidden, merely in a moment of danger. It is the fruit of consistent effort to play life by the rules. Its expression is the tip of something enormous, formed over years. A rock below the surface which just visible becomes an island for others to rest on. You know when courage is there in someone. You can sense it and it makes you trust them.

There is something touching about a courageous person too, because all the odds seem against them, but you know they’ll make it, for they have the strength of quality with them against the weakness of quantity. They say less and do more and they never make promises, for the courage in them knows that together with a high aim, there has to be an intelligent mind that is able to move quietly, one step at a time. Courage is bold ness, but it is always careful.
